Pismo Beach California

We had a great day today.  Headed out of Ukiah, which was really a dive, got through San Francisco and close to Los Angeles today.  Traffic was not too bad, even going right through downtown San Fancisco on a 49rs home game (holy line ups getting to the stadium!). Of course travelling on Sunday helps.

It was cool this morning, great for riding, and we were really looking forward to seeing the golden gate bridge.  When we came up to it the fog was so thick that we could barely see it.  The thing is that the fog was only about 1/2 mile from the start of it and 1/2 mile from the end of it.  Otherwise it was sunny and warm.  Still, it was pretty cool to ride over it.

We headed down the 101 towards LA and the heat started getting pretty intense.  Around 105 F where we could tell, although there were a couple places where we got some good cold air from the ocean.  Thank goodness we bought gel neck coolers for the bikes (soaked in water and sweats for hours, keeping our necks cool even if the rest of us was cooking).

We pulled into Pismo beach for the night and found a room with 2 king sized beds, free breakfast, a pool, by the ocean and a fireplace in our room for $121. Too rich for most nights (we are on a tight budget), but a welcome treat after travelling almost 600 km today!

So, the family discussion is whether we stop at Universal Studios tomorrow or carry on through.  Decisions, decisions, decisions. : )

Have a great night everyone!
Stew.
